Description
This article reports that Bert Nelson, animal trainer for the Hagenbeck-Wallace and Forepaugh-Sells circuses, visited Dr. E. H. McCleery with the intention of purchasing a lobo wolf. Dr. McCleery informed him that as of 1928, his wolves his wolves are no longer for sale. He used to sell wolf pups to motion picture companies and individuals, but the wolves eventually reverted to their wild dispositions and sometimes escaped from their owners. The government ordered Dr. McCleery to buy back all the wolves he had sold, and prohibited him from selling any more in the future.
